Solar power and clean cars are ‘gamechangers’ consistently underestimated by big energy, says Imperial College and Carbon Tracker report.
A full switch to low-carbon energy is in sight! – Polluting fuels could lose 10% of market share to solar power and clean cars within a decade as a result of falling prices in solar panels and electric cars.
The cost of solar energy has fallen by 85% in the past seven years and it is expected that by 2040 solar supply will generate 23% of global power.
However, cutting carbon from roads and the power sector may not be enough to achieve international climate targets agreed at the Paris Agreement.
